Whitening

Your tooth color can be affected by several factors including age, smoking as well as certain foods and drinks (e.g. coffee, tea, red wine). A whitening treatment can help improve the shade of your teeth. It can be done either in-office or at home using trays that are places over the teeth. Your dentist will first evaluate your teeth and then provide you with appropriate recommendations.

  • Important
    • If you have composite restorations (white fillings), veneers, crowns or bridges, their color will not change with whitening treatment. Only natural teeth will be whitened.
    • It is recommended to have a check-up and cleaning prior to tooth whitening treatment.
    • Whitening treatment can cause tooth sensitivity and gum irritation, which are temporary in most cases.
