Dental Examination

Regular dental examinations are essential to maintaining optimal oral health. A checkup allows your dentist to detect any problems and instruct you on how to prevent them. The “Ordre des Dentistes du Québec” recommends having a dental examination every six (6) months.
During your visit, you will need to fill out a medical questionnaire and provide a complete list of your medication. Certain illnesses and medications can have an impact on your oral health, therefore the information you provide will be useful to your dentist.

A  complete dental examination consists of a few steps. An extra-oral evaluation is performed of the head and neck area. An intra-oral evaluation is also performed to check not only your teeth and your bite but also the entire oral cavity including your gums, cheeks, tongue, palate and throat. Finally, x-rays are taken in order to complete the assessment of your teeth and the bone structure that surrounds them.

After a thorough examination, your dentist will be able to identify any issues that need to be addressed, explain them to you and bring forward recommendations and treatment options that suit your individual needs.
