Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry deals with dental care specifically intended for children and adolescents. The Ordre des Dentistes du Québec recommends that a child’s first visit to the dentist take place before the age of two, ideally within 6 months of the eruption of the first baby tooth.

Just like adults, maintaining healthy baby teeth is important. Pediatric dental examinations will allow your dentist to evaluate your child’s teeth and dental hygiene and provide you with recommendations.  Proper oral hygiene and diet are essential to preventing tooth decay.

During the examination, the dentist will also evaluate your child’s bite (occlusion) and dento-facial growth. Remember that taking your children to the dentist at a young age will help get them used to receiving regular dental care and will reinforce its importance.
